Bjarni Thomas is a Certified Nurse Midwife with more than 20 years of experience providing comprehensive, evidence-based care to women and families across the lifespan.
Since becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife in 2006, she has dedicated her career to empowering women through education, compassionate care, and the belief that every patient deserves to be an informed partner in their healthcare.
Throughout her career, Bjarni has practiced in a variety of clinical settings, caring for women during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum recovery, and routine gynecologic care. She is committed to building trusting relationships with her patients and providing individualized care that respects each woman's values, goals, and unique circumstances.
Known for her integrity, professionalism, and calm presence, Bjarni strives to create an environment where patients feel heard, respected, and supported. She is passionate about promoting normal physiologic birth when appropriate while recognizing the importance of collaboration and timely intervention when higher levels of care are needed. She values working within multidisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve the best possible outcomes for mothers and babies.

She spends her free time on her small hobby farm in East Machias with the love of her life, her husband Jason. She loves playing in her garden, watching her donkeys and cows graze in the field and planning her next trip to see the REAL love of her life - her grandson Oliver.

Board Certifications
Advanced practice midwifery encompasses the independent provision of care during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period; sexual and reproductive health; gynecologic health; and family planning services, including preconception care.
Midwives also provide primary care for individuals from adolescence throughout the lifespan as well as care for the healthy newborn during the first 28 days of life.

Midwives provide initial and ongoing comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. Midwifery care includes health promotion, disease prevention, risk assessment and management, and individualized wellness education and counseling.
